Gateway is one of our vocational pathway programmes at Greymouth High School. The programme enables senior learners to access workplace-based learning integrated with school-based learning.
Through gateway, learners have the opportunity to work one-on-one with an employer while working towards their National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) and/or other qualifications on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF). Credentials that are available to learners include Building, Mechanical, Hairdressing, Agriculture, Early Childhood, Engineering and many more.
Learners may participate in courses that align with their employer placement, such as Health and Safety, Barista, Working At Heights, First Aid, Teamwork and Communication in the Workplace.
Please note that it is a requirement of the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) that students in the Gateway programme MUST gain a minimum of 20 credits that are relevant to their Gateway placement.
