Great opportunity for up and coming rugby players!

Marty Rochford, Jack Bolton and Griffin Thomas all had the fantastic opportunity with being selected to attend the Cantabrian RFC Burnham Camp during the holidays along with three other young men from the West Coast to help fly out flag high.

This rugby camp uses rugby as a vehicle to help build the confidence, leadership and life skills in those who attend. The interesting and varied programme that is planned with New Zealand Rugby and World Rugby educations along with Canterbury Rugby staff and coaching conducting trainings and two matches to test players skills.

This camp can also give senior players the potential opportunity to gain involvement in higher level teams if they which to continue their rugby careers seriously once finishing secondary school.

Our players had a fantastic time attending the camp, learning a lot of new things to assist their game and life skills along with meeting likeminded young men that have similar goals to themselves making some new friends.

During the second match played Marty Rochford was awarded player of the day where it was reported he played phenomenally well showing great sportsmanship and respect.

All the boys represented the West Coast extremely well along with their club teams of Blaketown RFC (Marty and Jack) and Marist RFC (Griffin) and our school. We are very proud of these young men to be leaders in our school and on the sports field – they exemplify our school values and are great members of our community.

Congratulations on your success at this camp boys!
