High scoring, exciting fixture for the U15s teams.

The GHS U15 boys were very excited to finally have another game of 15 aside rugby in 2020 after the regular fixtures couldn’t happen. This team of talented young players have been putting in some good work during the weekly trainings and you could see sparks of this throughout the game.

Both teams took their time getting into the game with Nelson breaking the deadlock after 20minutes, they got in for another before Sam Shaw made the most of a knock on mistake from Nelson off the restart, he made quick work of it picking the ball up and getting over the line. Nelson opened up the scoring in the season half finding their legs  getting in multiple but GHS still worked hard that saw the powerhouse of Fa Masalu rumble over the line, he is always hard to put down with his continued leg drive. Shaw got in for a double, again in the left hand corner to smartened up the score line for us a bit more.

Thank you to referee Rob Maitland for officiating, and to Coach McGirr and Haigh for running our boys. We have good things to look forward to for 2021 with many of this group only being Year 9. Congratulations to the Nelson College Boarders on a solid win!

Thank you to Alyssa Blacktopp for capturing some of the action of the game, excellent photos!
