Another great day of action in Hari Hari for Futsal!

On on the second week of Term 4 the three GHS futsal teams were on the road to Hari Hari to take part in the West Coast Secondary School Junior Futsal Tournament hosted once again at South Westland Area School who put on a great tournament for our players.

In the boys competition there was five teams from South Westland AS, Westland HS and Greymouth HS, in the girls competition there were four teams again from the three schools. It was an action packed day with one court going which meant all teams could support the one game being played making for a great atmosphere in the SWAS gym.

The Greymouth HS A Boys team took out the competition with an excellent display of futsal skills linking together so well with passes and keeping patience until the scoring opportunity opened up.

The Greymouth HS B Boys were lacking in numbers due to a few playing becoming unavailable, however multiple of the girls had the opportunity to jump on the court for some extra game time to assist the B team making up numbers. Spirited performance throughout and all players who took the court for this team throughout the day did so well. This team finished up fourth equal with WHS B.

Our girls team was full of very excited young women looking forward to taking on the futsal challenge, many of these players had not played futsal before but they made up for it with pure passion on the court! The came away with second place behind a strong SWAS team.

Thank you to Mr Tangney taking away this group, also for putting in so much time during lunch breaks giving all players the opportunity to train their skills which paid off on the day!
