26 Players, 60 Games – A LOT of action!

On Thursday 5th May we hosted the first West Coast Secondary School Squash tournament in Greymouth at the local squash club that had players from Greymouth HS, John Paul II and Westland HS involved.

In total there were 26 players involved split across two divisions, 9 in division one, 17 in division two which totalled 60 GAMES! Some of the players were new to the sport, others well seasoned which made for some very competitive games.

All the athletes involved had great exposure to the sport which also included umpiring games for their fellow rivals making for a fantastic day of squash with everyone enjoying themselves in this fast paced sport.

From Greymouth HS we had 13 students competing, many of whom are involved in the Squash Elective run by Mr Tangney, this shows that our electives are giving students more chances to be involved in great opportunities like this! Well done Mr Tangney on running a successful elective and being on the ground during the tournament to ensure everything flow well.

Congratulations to Finlay Brown, Callum Brown and Sasha Ellery for taking out the top three spots in division one, but also a huge congratulations to all our students for attending this day. You were great representatives of the school!
